Textured 😳

Heyyy Y’all

Sooo one day on my down time I was just scrolling thru IG minding my own damn business when I saw this CVS ad, now I have not shopped or even been in a CVS in years I totally forgot about them I thought they had closed them all here in NYC buuuut come to think of it me and my mother were talkin about CVS last week 🤔🤔 I swear my phone stay spying on me it’s annoying cuz I talk about money and my phone doesn’t bring me to any 🙄.... Anywho I saw this ad and immediately stopped.
I want y’all’s opinion on it as well, ok here it go...

Now as a woman over 30 I have noticed my skin has been going through a change chyle. I mean from being dry to bad menstrual breakouts to thinking I has eczema and shingles 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ LAWD!! So I know how your skin can get and I can appreciate them showing women as they are..... BUT as a makeup artist I’m like Nah!! This post was to advertise the eyeshadow so why not make that the focus? You got the bottom half of her face looking like a total different color then the finger in the mouth is bringing extra attention to the bad areas. Then she has breakouts on her forehead 🤦🏾‍♀️🙅🏾‍♀️🙅🏾‍♀️ It’s Tew Much!!!!

Sooooo THEN MAC Cosmetics also shares an post about “textured” skin

So now I’m like Hmmmmm is it only black women who have these skin types?? I’ve seen and worked on some “textured” faced women who were also white, asian and hispanic so I’m like why not have these skin types shown in different women?

Bottom line I’m torn like I get them showing women naturally as they are because not all women have picture perfect skin but c’mon now 😒

What y’all think about this, leave a comment and let’s chat!

I am split on this one because while I want to be angry by being singled out as skin indifference is a black thing, I can also appreciate the focus on black beauty and skin care (which is long overdue). I agree that all skin tones, races and ethnicities can experience a range of skin types and not just black people. I think major brands expressed a poor display of advertisement and I hope that there are some corrections/ education on their ignorance!
